This retreat, offered at a beautiful site on the Hillsborough River in Tampa, is an excellent opportunity to deepen the practice of Buddhist mindfulness meditation, and is suitable for beginning and more advanced meditation students. The retreat begins Friday evening and ends Sunday at lunch. More specific information is provided after registration.
The teacher has been practicing this meditation form intensively since 1982, and teaching meditation classes and retreats in Orlando and around Central Florida since 1986.

Peter Carlson has been practicing Meditation for more than thirty years. He has been teaching Vipassana (Insight) Meditation for more than twenty years. He has attended numerous Vipassana courses including a three month course at the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in Barre, Massachusetts. Peter is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in private practice in Winter Park, Florida.

Riding the Wave of Change

This retreat is suitable for beginning and more advanced meditators. The practice will progress from cultivating mental tranquility with mindfulness of breathing meditation to developing vipassana, the Buddhist term for ongoing awareness of the changing nature of mind states, with the goal of reducing distress and developing a more joyful engagement with life, no matter what the circumstances might be. The teacher has been actively practicing vipassana since 1982, and brings a rich mixture of Eastern and Western psychology to his teaching.
When: October 30 – November 6, 2011
The retreat begins at 5 PM Sunday, October 30 after supper and ends with lunch on Sunday, November 6.
Where: Deerhaven Retreat Center There are 12 motel room units with private baths. Some are handicap accessible. And there are additional dormitories with bunk beds and a shared bath.
Fee: The fee is $400. In the Buddhist tradition, the teacher does not charge for the teaching. At the end of the retreat, students can gift the teacher as they see fit, a gesture called dana.
All vegetarian meals are included in registration fee. Registration is limited to 18 participants. Retreat center website.
