August 19 — Is Mindfulness Enough? by Susan Baxter
Is Mindfulness Enough? Discovering the Power of Insight
We often treat mindfulness as a universal cure for the stresses of modern life. We are told that if we just breathe and stay in the present moment, everything will be okay. But what happens when the present moment is toxic, painful, or deeply unfulfilling?
In this session, we dive into the vital question: Is Mindfulness Enough? You will discover why pure awareness is only the starting point of the spiritual journey. Together, we will explore the limits of simple observation and introduce the three missing pieces required for genuine transformation: Compassion, Insight, and Wise Action.
Following the talk, you will be guided through a 5-minute deep-dive meditation designed to pierce the surface of your repetitive mental loops, helping you cultivate the clear seeing (Vipassana) that leads to true freedom.
What You Will Experience:
- A clear breakdown of what mindfulness can and cannot do.
- Tools to identify and avoid “spiritual bypassing.”
- A guided practice to shift from passive awareness to deep internal insight.
- August 26 — The Fullness of Emptiness by April Koester
- September 2 — “One Woman’s Problem with No Self” (Exploring Anatta and resistance, referencing Ezra Bayda) by Lezlie Laws
