Proposed Topic for the January 2026 Study Group
Peter will be facilitating the next Intensive Study Group, which will start sometime Mid-January. The focus will be on reviewing “The Mind Illuminated” by Culadasa and Matthew Immergut; the subtitle is “A Complete Meditation Guide–Integrating Buddhist Wisdom and Brain Science for Greater Mindfulness”. The book’s chapters provide a comprehensive progression of topics for study and application. This book has been popular for the study groups for several years; the most recent printed version is preferred and getting the book rather than a digital version because the very useful notes about the contents in the back of the book are easier to access.
As usual, there will be 8 weekly Zoom meetings, from 3-4:30; if there are enough interested participants, one group will meet on Saturdays and the other on Sundays. Peter asks that those participating commit to daily mindfulness meditation practice, recommending sitting 45 minutes each time. Peter’s plan is to have a “mini-consultation” with every participant during each meeting. Circumstances may not allow that, but he will do his best to speak with each person. You can talk about a concept from the book or your meditation practice
As in previous groups, the fee for the series is recommended to be $160, payable to OIMG, either through the website or via check sent to Peter Carlson, 1818 Carrigan Avenue, Winter Park, FL, 32789. If you don’t have $160, pay what you can afford, knowing that this contribution is a core funding project for our Sangha’s activities. Peter is offering facilitation services freely, as has been the case for a few years now. Participants can make their payment after receiving confirmation from Peter about their application.
Thank you for your interest. We wish you well.
